Gill Morris
Sensory Resource Co-ordinator

NEIL OATEN

Gill has been a teacher for too many years than she cares to remember! She has worked in a variety of settings and is now Teacher-in-Charge of the Sensory Resource. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a general teaching diploma and the mandatory qualifications for children who are hearing impaired and on the Autistic Spectrum. Gill is also a qualified aromatherapist and reflexologist and is currently studying to achieve the qualification for children who are multi sensory impaired.

 


 


Tim Kehoe BSc (Hons) PGCE

NEIL OATEN

Tim qualified as a teacher in 2001 specialising in Nursery teaching, since then he has worked in a variety of roles in both mainstream and special education. Prior to this he also spent six years supporting and teaching adults with learning disabilities. He joined Brookfield in September 2007 as ICT Teacher in the Secondary Department and he was appointed to his present position as Teacher for the Visually Impaired in September 2009.  In the last year he has qualified as a PROACT SCIPrUK instructor and he has also just completed studying a Post Graduate Certificate in Autism (Children) and in September 2009 he began the two year post graduate diploma in teaching children with a visual impairment.

 


 


Jennifer Fox

NEIL OATEN

Jennifer began her career in childcare by completing the NNEB course at Maidenhead College in 2000. During this two year course she also gained the first certificate in BSL.  Following this Jennifer worked at Dingley Family & Play Therapy group. After having her daughter, Jennifer became a full time mum whilst volunteering in her child’s school. In 2007 Jennifer did supply lunch time duties at Westwood Farm Infant School and soon after became a part time teaching assistant in the school’s Hearing Impaired Resource. In September 2008 Jennifer joined Brookfields School as a full time General Support Assistant. She later moved to join the Sensory resource team in summer 2009 as a full time Specialist Support Assistant. She is presently working on the RNIB Partners in Learning course and has also recently completed a two day PECS training course.

 


 


Ann Fairley

NEIL OATEN

Qualified Teacher For Visually Impaired Children and Young People. I have worked across Berkshire for the Sensory Consortium Service with children 0 – 19 years across the ability range. I especially enjoyed two years working in Namibia with six blind students providing support for Braille activities.

 


 


Neil Oaten B.A Ed (Hons) QTS

NEIL OATEN
Neil has been working with children for over twenty years. He taught in a mainstream primary school before moving into special education. He has previously undertaken post graduate training in ‘Challenging Behaviour’ and ‘Speech and Language difficulties’. Neil is himself hearing impaired which has given him a personal insight into some of the difficulties experienced by students with a hearing impairment. He has a wide range of experiences teaching pupils with moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Neil is a qualified PROACT SCIPrUK instructor.

 


 


Linda Coyle S.S.A (Specialist Support Assistant)

LINDA COYLE
Prior to joining the staff at Brookfields Linda worked as a volunteer at her sons Nursery and Primary Schools. In 2002 she became a teaching assistant at Brookfields working predominantly with children in Key Stage 3 and 4. In 2006 Linda completed her NVQ level 3 training which gave her the opportunity of gaining experience in working with pupils throughout the school. Linda’s interest in working with pupils with a sensory impairment began while she was supporting a pupil in Key Stage 4 who had a visual impairment. In April 2007 she became a full time SSA within the Sensory Resource. In September 2008 Linda successfuly completed the RNIB "Partners In Learning".

 


 


Jane Scott

JANE SCOTT
After undertaking additional training Jane became the member of staff responsible for mobility and orientation training within the Sensory resource (.4) from September 2006. Jane joined the staff at Brookfields in October 2000 and she has worked with pupils with a visual impairment since that time. Prior to this she was an occupation therapist working to rehabilitate adults with neurological problems or learning difficulties. Jane completed a NVQ level 3 course in March 2004 and also successfully completed the RNIB ‘Partners in Learning’ course in 2004. In May 2007Jane completed a level 1 British Sign Language qualification.
