Complementary curriculum

All pupils within the sensory resource have a complementary curriculum which is interwoven with the national curriculum. According to their specific needs pupils may have individual programmes of self-help skills, visual stimulation, auditory training and tactile awareness. Sessions may also include specific speech and language work, physiotherapy and music therapy. As appropriate mobility and orientation training takes place both on and off site. Younger pupils learn basic skills such as ‘trailing’ on site while our older pupils have sessions on the use of public transport and specific work in their nearest town centre.
